Abuja Disco refunds N241m electricity credit to customers 4th June

  The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company has refunded electricity credit worth N241.45m to 9,823 customers across its franchise areas as compensation for billing irregularities and regulatory infractions committed between June 2024 and January 2025. The refunds, processed as energy credits, follow directives issued by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission in line with consumer protection guidelines under the Meter Asset Provider scheme. The company published the names and details of the affected customers on its official website on Tuesday, urging beneficiaries to verify their refund status.   Blackout looms as the National Union of Electricity Employees threaten to down tools and shut down power supply in Abuja, Nasarawa, Kogi, and Niger States under the franchise of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company. The threat is contained in a notice letter to AEDC by NUEE Assistant Secretary General Liaison Opaluwa Simeon on Tuesday. NUEE listed 13 unmet demands such as non-remittance of pension deductions for 16 months, non-implementation of a national minimum wage of N70,000, non-confirmation of staff on acting employment, non-promotion of staff, non-payment of a 2024 productivity bonus, and others as reasons for the planned strike action. It  stated that the planned strike action is a continuation of the November 27, 2024, suspended strike and will commence anytime from the receipt of the notice. PenCom’s New Directive For Benefits Approval To RSA Holders Begins June 1, 2025

   Pursuant  to its powers under the Pen­sion Reform Act 2014 (PRA 2014), to establish clear guidelines, standards, and procedures for administering re­tirement and terminal benefits under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), the National Pension Commission (Pen­Com) has reviewed procedures for retire­ment and terminal benefits payment for Retirement Savings Account holders by the pension fund administrators (PFAs). The new regulation, according to the Commission, will take effect from 1st June 2025. Siemens CEO, family die in New York helicopter crash

  Six people, including a senior Siemens executive and his family, died when a sightseeing helicopter plunged into the Hudson River in New York on Thursday. All occupants of the aircraft, including the pilot and the family of Agustin Escobar, CEO of a Siemens subsidiary, perished in the crash. Two of the victims were rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to their injuries. “We are deeply saddened by the tragic helicopter crash in which Agustin Escobar and his family lost their lives,” Siemens told AFP on Friday.
