AGN LEADERSHIP CONTROVERSY LOOMS

AGN ENUGU DEBACLE - BEWARE OF FRAUD!
First I would like to correct the impression that there was a Congress of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) at Enugu. There was none. The meeting at Enugu was another Peace and Reconciliation meeting, an earlier one was held in Lagos.

It is an act of idiocy to posit that a Court judgement gotten by a member of AGN was "handed over" to a dubious and non existent "Congress". The judgement of a Court of competent jurisdiction is a law enforceable not just by AGN members but any interested party.

The only competent and Constitutionally empowered persons to call a Congress of AGN are the two factional Presidents of AGN, Messrs Ms Ibinabo Fiberesima and Emeka Ike. They are yet to do so.

It is important to note that the reference to the Board of Trustees led by Ifeanyi Dike at the Enugu meeting is a monumental error of judgement. This board has since been sacked by the Court!

It is untrue that the the two National Excos of Ms Ibinabo Fiberesima and Emeka Ike, which were recognized by the attendees of the Enugu peace meeting, were dissolved. The body empowered to dissolve the National Exco are the Exco themselves, principally after setting up an electoral body to conduct National elections. The two National Excos never did and Ms Ibinabo Fiberesima didn't even attend the Enugu Peace and Reconciliation meeting. The purported vacuum created after the "dissolution of National Excos" is a figment of the imagination of the Enugu power hungry fellows who made a futile grab for power.

Those who had sinister plans for the supposed Enugu Peace and Reconciliation meeting and who meticulously executed their evil plans right before the Press forgot one simple fact. The Press coverage of an illegality does not confer any shred of legality on it. Rather it exposes and expounds such illegality.

Our members and the general public are enjoined to disregard the Enugu meeting and all illegalities that has emanated from it, including the "election" of a fake President.

The coming together of the two National Excos of Ms Ibinabo Fiberesima and Emeka Ike to bring AGN crisis to a close is laudable. They are working hard at it. They remain the legal mouthpiece of Actors Guild of Nigeria.

Femi Durojaiye
National Secretary AGN

The War between Iconic Emeka Ike and Segun Arinze

The war between iconic actors Segun Arinze and Emeka Ike seems to have no end in sight. In a recent interview, Arinze had said Ike should stop embarrassing the Actors Guild of Nigeria by parading himself as its president. According to Segun: ‘Emeka should grow up. As far as I am concerned, Ibinabo Fiberesima is the bonafide president. Even in the recent judgement that came out recently telling us to return to the status quo, what does it mean? We were told to go back to the way we were. There was no time Emeka Ike was pronounced the president of AGN. Let him bring out the copy of the judgement and show us if he is man enough. He should wake up and stop embarrassing the guild.” Well, these words did not go down well with Ike who believes Segun Arinze “is an illiterate who should have been in jail.” He told Saturday Beats: “I heard Segun Arinze was interviewed and he said so many things about me and nobody asked me for my own side. I don’t think it was a balanced report. Se...

400-YEAR Old Church Emerge From Receding Water

No biggie, but a Colonial-era church has emerged from receding waters in Mexico. Leonel Mendoza fishes every day in a reservoir surrounded by forest and mountains in the southern Mexico state of Chiapas. But in recent days, he has been ferrying curious passengers out to see the remains of a colonial-era church that has emerged from the receding waters. Pretty impressive, right? A drought this year means the level of the Grijalva River, which flows into the Nezahualcoyotl reservoir, has dropped by 25 meters (82 feet). It is the second time a drop in the reservoir has revealed the church since it was flooded when the dam was completed in 1966. In 2002, the water was so low visitors could walk inside the church. ‘The people celebrated. They came to eat, to hang out, to do business. I sold them fried fish. They did processions around the church,’ Mendoza recalled. The church near Quechula was built by a group of monks headed by Friar Bartolome de l...
