Olubadan preaches love, peace at Easter

The Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji, has enjoined Christians and non-Christians in Ibadan, Oyo State and the country to make love and peace their watchword.
The Olubadan spoke through the Director, Media and Public Affairs to the monarch, Adeola Oloko, when youths from Oluyole Local Government, under the aegis of Oluyole Youth Council, led by the mayor, Ilori Peter, came to observe the monthly environmental sanitation exercise at the palace in Popoyemoja, Ibadan.
He explained that that proper understanding of the life and times of Jesus Christ showed that the greatest message of Christ was love which had the ability to erase sins also through God’s forgiveness.
He said, “Irrespective of religious and ideological persuasion, we need peace, love and harmony at this time, more than at any other times in the history of our community, the state and indeed Nigeria in general. It is the height of love and sacrifice for somebody to offer to lay down his life for the sake of others which is exemplified in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.”
The monarch commended the people of Oyo State for embracing peace, while also stating that without peace and love, there would be no progress in the land.
“We live in a dynamic world where the society is confronted by new developments but we must also acknowledge that negative development will thrive where the people have no common goal towards positive development,” he said.
“As a nation, we must unite to put an end to all the challenges that threaten our nationhood. Nigerians are peace loving people but we must spread the good news and ensure a better future for our nation.”
